Worldwide there has been a strong push to get educational technology into the hands of teachers and students .The answer for the same was smart class program whose purpose is to empower teachers with technology right inside their classrooms. The program enables teachers to use digital resources such as graphics, animations, 3D images, and video clips in addition to the chalk and talk methods of teaching in their day to day teaching life. This results in a completely new multi-sensory learning experience for students and helps them to improve their academic performance. The class rooms turn into lively learning platforms for students and teachers can choose from a mix of teaching tools such as the traditional chalk and black board coupled with graphics, sound, animations and videos. It enhances the teaching learning process by making classrooms more interactive and more interesting. Smart classroom is also used to share educational and motivational stories through videos and graphics.
It is also available over the Web and can be installed on the School’s local server for easy and quick access to content. The Smart class online is a 21st century e-learning platform that has been built around the theme of ‘LEARN, SHARE and PERFORM.
Smart Class Implementation Model
- An existing room/space inside the school campus is converted to a KNOWLEDGE CENTER. It is equipped with a library of digital resources mapped to the school syllabus. The knowledge center is equipped with a few teacher workstations with PC’S for teachers and a dedicated server.
- A full time RESOURCE COORDINATOR is deployed at the knowledge center to train and support the teachers.
- The teachers preview the digital content related to their subjects in the knowledge center before actually showing it to the students to ensure proper lesson planning.
- The knowledge center server is connected to the smart classrooms through a campus wide structured Ethernet network.
- The classrooms are converted to smart class rooms by installing a DIGIBOARD SYSTEM. It is a tamper proof, lockable digital system which allows digital material to be displayed in the classroom with amplified sound system.
Setting up a Positive Classroom
Every day as millions of students go to school, their parents and caretakers hope these young people will be treated with care, valued, inspired, and educated. Students hope they will get along with their peers and teachers, have their work measure up, and enjoy the process of learning.
Classrooms are where students spend the maximum number of school hours and we ensure that the environment of these spaces is positive and inculcates mutual respect and camaraderie. Our classrooms are at par with international standards and allow teachers to closely interact with each student. Each class is not only airy, cheerful and spacious but also replete with modular furniture, extensive display boards and large windows. The furniture and décor of each classroom facilitates teaching and learning. Our children therefore do not need to carry heavy and oversized bags to school, reducing the physical and mental strain on these young minds.
Teacher Student Ratio
Despite large and commodious classrooms, we have limited the number of students such that the average teacher to student ratio across all grades is about 1:25. Our nursery section is purposefully built, with bright colours and play-areas and can accommodate at least 30, 3-4 year old tiny tots. We have 3 teachers with 2 helpers to look after the needs and learning requirements of these tiny tots.
Technologically Supported Classrooms
We have recently moved to the first phase of a new school building that houses state-of-the-art classrooms and supports a completely wireless environment. It is equipped with modern teaching- aids, smart boards, top-of-the-line computers and also television monitors. The cutting edge technology is fashioned to make lessons interactive, engaging and thrilling for our students.
